Whatever your plans for tomorrow's holiday, we have two wonderful recipes that you can enjoy at home, or take with you to go. They are both easy as pie, and absolutely delicious!
Candied almonds are better on day two, after they have had a chance to absorb the water used in the recipe.
Recipe:
1.5 C Raw Almonds
.5 C White Sugar
.75 Tbl Cinnamon
.5 C Water
Pinch of Salt
Directions:
Combine water, sugar, and cinnamon in a sauce pan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil, and add your almonds. Reduce your heat. Let the mixture stay over heat until the liquid around the almonds is a thick syrup texture. Make sure you stir it regularly, but leave the almonds in a single layer so they get candied evenly. Once the syrup is thick enough put the almonds on a wax paper covered cookie sheet. Separate all the almonds and let them cool for at least 15 minutes. These almonds are even better the next day.

The Watermelon Mint Lemonade Spritzer takes a little time, but is well worth it. It is so good over ice, and with a splash of your favorite clear liquor.
Recipe:
.5 C Fresh mint leaves
1.5 C Unseeded watermelon cubes
.5 C Sugar
.5 - .75 C Lemon Juice
.75 C Boiling water
Sparkling water
Ice
Directions:
Put the cubed, seedless watermelon in a blender, and blend well. Add the sugar to the boiling water, and stir until fully dissolved. Strain the blended watermelon into a pitcher, and add in the sugar water mixture. Add in half of the mint leaves, then give the other half of the leaves a twist, and add them in as well. Add lemon juice, to taste. Add in sparkling water to taste until it is diluted as you would like. Put in refrigerator, and let chill. When you pour the drink in individual glasses, add in ice, and garnish with a few mint leaves.
