A wonderful annual tour will soon be upon us! The Carson City Historical Society invites attendees to visit an array of private gardens, and historic homes on June 22, from 12:00- 4:30 pm. At each stop there will be a chance to talk to the gardeners, and gain some of their expertise. A post-tour reception will be at 4:30, at 214 W. King St. in the garden. Tickets can be purchased starting June 1st, at the Due Sorella (202 N. Curry). Tickets are $10 per person, or $8 for Historical Society members. Please contact Paula Cannon at 775.887.8865 for additional information & we hope to see you there!
The weather last week made ice cream a necessity, but the rain last night made me yearn for baked treats. The best combination of ice cream and baked goods you ask? Homemade cookie sandwiches! This is such a simple treat to make. The cookies are oatmeal chocolate chip, and vanilla ice cream can be purchased anywhere. The recipe for the cookies can be found here. Enjoy!
Happy Memorial Day weekend readers! We have some festivities planned, a picnic or two, maybe a trip to Virginia City, and always some gardening. The weather is going to be sublime, and we are going to spend as much time as we can outdoors.
What do you have planned for the long weekend? It is said that perfection is in the details. A room, painting, or meal is not complete without taking care to add in the less recognized ingredients. The most fantastic part about decorating details- they can be made up of just about anything. A pair of old cowboy boots sitting under a side table in a rustic game room, or a few antique letter blocks spelling out a meaningful word in a child's room can make all the difference. Unlike furniture, low price does not always mean that you will be getting a cheap items since some of the best can be found at antique, or thrift stores. The most important thing is that the details you surround yourself with are truly items you love.
Summer time hosts the most delicious flavors. Farmers markets are starting for the season, and the produce section at the grocery never looks more abundant. Here is a collection of four of our favorite summer delights- simple to make and as tasty to taste as a Monet painting would be if it were candy.
