Some items belong in every woman's wardrobe, and some do not. Every woman should have a few of the 'classics' that she favorites, and uses on a regular basis. There are of course many items that aren't featured in my eight favorites, like a camel trench coat, a pearl necklace, and a cashmere sweater that are timeless. It is left up to each individuals discretion to tailor the classics she will choose to represent her personal style.
My favorites include: 1. This bright pink clutch will add a splash of color to any outfit. I think that a purse or clutch is the best way to add color when an outfit is underwhelmingly neutral. 2. I LOVE tortoiseshell, and I adore this bracelet. It has a charming belt like buckle and it adds a little jingle when you move your arm. 3. Scarves are a must where I live. Winter hits hard- and sometimes even hijacks summer weather. I layer my clothes like I should be paid for it, and a scarf like this one is just perfect. 4. An over sized watch is a staple in my wardrobe. This one is perfect, and this one is surprisingly fabulous! 5. Loose t-shirts are a staple. They are versatile enough to dress up and down. This one has a sweet pocket and has just the right amount of slouch. 6. Pearl studs. There is nothing more classic, & they really do go with EVERYTHING. 7. I have mentioned it before, and I am sure I will bring it up again- I am short. My legs are the same height as a hamster's & I look for any clothing that will do me favors. Nude flats are a regular in my outfit choices. Because these have a small heel, they elongate almost like it's magic. 8. A statement necklace is a necessity. Because a statement necklace can be added over a t-shirt, or to a little black dress it is one of the most versatile pieces of jewelery a girl can have. I love the colors this one sports. The beautiful background is an oil painting from siiso
1. A DIY from home depot- how sweet is that black and white striped stand? Here is a secret, it's an overturned pot with rope wrapped around it!
2. John Krasinski on auditioning for The Office. He is seems so sweet and humble! 3. A new vaccine for Malaria has a 100% success rate. This is very cool! 4. Recipe for a blueberry marscapone tarte. This looks SO good. 5. We love these earrings from style mint. 6. These ideas are all a little wacky, but also genius and terribly funny! Happy Monday everyone! Summer ends in just under a month and a half, so this weekend we are hoping to pack some in some last minute things. A trip to the drive through, a picnic, and maybe even a trip to the lake is in order. We have been hard at work, and we think that we deserve a little break. What are your plans for this gorgeous weekend?
Mirrors are one of the most effective decorating tools. They can be used to create a number of wonderful effects, and there is no theme they cannot be included in. Aside from the traditional use for mirrors, the next most common use is making a space seem bigger, and sometimes even endless. Most people go through their day without thinking twice about glancing in a mirror, this is greatly due to mirrors being inherently neutral. There are many right ways and only a few wrong ways when adding mirrors to your decor. Do place a mirror where it will reflect something beautiful (I'm not talking about when you look in it here. Flowers, art, or a window would be perfect!). Don't place a mirror to high up on your wall, it ends up reflecting the ceiling, which isn't helpful or functional. Don't place a mirror where it is going to reflect plumbing, exposed wires, or another unsightly attribute. Just as we try our hardest to hide our bulges, we want to minimize the attention the unattractive areas of our homes. Do mix and match. Because they tend to blend, it is okay to bring a multitude of shapes and designs together. Do have fun. It is always the most important thing to remember that interior design is fun. If you begin to get overwhelmed, instead of getting discouraged, go for a walk, or just take a break. Enjoy!
1 . Sunburst Mirror, $200 2. Nautical Rope Mirror, $110 3. Round Jute Mirror, $360 4. Bronzetone Mirror, $200 5. Vintage Mirror, $400 6. Star Mirrors, $65-$85 1. How wonderful is the ethnic feel of this couch? It is the perfect combination of delicate, femininity and striking colors and design. A classic french couch often calls for a reupholster, why not make a bold choice?
2. This quote is pretty, and wise. Two of our favorite attributes. 3. How sweet does it get? These floral colanders would add the perfect touch to any kitchen, or outdoor party! 4. A great post on how small changes to a simple chocolate chip recipe can have a big impact on your results. It is a surprisingly interesting read. 5. If you haven't caught on to Mumford & Sons, this is a great song to start with. Chances are you are going to fall madly in love. 6. If you ever wanted to know how you are supposed to replant orchids- this is a must read. The tutorial is super simple, but it is easy to kill a beautiful orchid without the know how. |
